About Us
The Susquehanna Conference Board of Global Ministries functions as the conference board of church and society and the conference board of global ministries.
Our mission is to assist congregations to create opportunities for discipling relationships through missions, outreach, justice, and service. The board consists of five committees to help us accomplish our mission:
Educate Committee
- Plan and lead yearly seminar to the General Board of Church and Society
- Liaison with and support the conference UMW on MissionU
- Promote the Advance on all levels (district, conference, and Global Ministries)
- Work with other committees to create educational opportunities for the conference related to our board’s mission
- Work with and support the conference Abundance Health Coordinator
Empower (justice focused)
- Support the justice and outreach work of local churches, pastors, and lay persons in the Susquehanna Conference
- Responsible for resolutions to annual conference (receiving them as well as writing them)
- Relate to and promote the work of the General Board of Church and Society
- Relate to and promote the work of PA Advocacy
- Work with and support the conference Peace with Justice Coordinator
- Support local churches with justice related ministries
Engage Committee (missions focused)
- Support the mission and outreach work of local churches, pastors, and lay persons in the Susquehanna Conference
- Relate to and promote the work of the General Board of Global Ministries
- Support and promote the conference mission initiatives (Sierra Leone, Haiti Partnership, Bolivia)
- Support and promote conference related mission institutions (Mission Central and Neighborhood)
- Work with and support the conference Volunteers in Missions Coordinator
- Work with and support the conference Disaster Relief Coordinator
- Work with and support the conference Secretary of Global Missions
Grants Committee
- Design and create grant opportunities
- Evaluate grant applications
- Make grant related recommendations to the board
Executive Committee
- Guide the mission, vision, and direction of the board
- Facilitate coordination between committees
- Make recommendations to the board
