New Hope Methodist Church, Freeport 2011-2012
Thank You for Supporting New Hope Mission
I just got back from Nassau for the New Officer installation that was held this morning. It is very interesting to see how our brothers and sisters in the Methodist Connection organize for leadership. Being United Methodist and "on staff" as a missionary, I was given the honor of participating fully with their clergy. With only 36 churches in the Conference, I had opportunity to interact with the majority of the clergy, as well as those who run the other outreaches (Bahamas Methodist Habitat, Children's Home, Camp Symonette, Queen's College, etc.) and some folks from Candler Seminary (where most of the clergy attend from our area). Please share with the Cabinet that the Conference here is very excited about us being here, and I see this as a great opportunity for us to experience a new type of ministry partnership. Our new President (and my predecessor at New Hope Church) expressed today in his message his hopes that I will be able to remain here for awhile to be in ministry together with them while I serve New Hope. He also expressed his appreciation for our conference to allow me to be "on loan." You would be amazed at the outpouring of excitement and welcome that we have experienced.
They are currently arranging an induction service at our church here in Freeport, but we haven't firmed a date yet with so many schedule set-backs with hurricane clean-up. I will be sure to take some pictures to send your way. If anyone is interested in joining in, though, they are certainly welcome. I should have a date in the next day or two, but I understand the limitations with the short notice. The hospitality here is wonderful, and I am sure that you would be blessed to experience it for yourself, if not now then certainly in the future.
I hope it is helpful to receive these periodic updates. Praise God for technology!
